Russell Martin is on the verge of being appointed as Leicester City's new manager.
The 40-year-old former Scotland international is set to return to management for the first time since his dismissal by Rangers in October.
A final decision was anticipated over the weekend.
Leicester had been eager to appoint Martin last summer before he joined Rangers.
The club subsequently hired Marti Cifuentes, who was dismissed in January after a six-month tenure.
Under interim manager Gary Rowett, Leicester dropped into League One, enduring consecutive relegations following their Premier League demotion in 2024-25.
They were penalized six points for violating English Football League financial regulations.
Martin lasted just 17 matches at Rangers β he was fired when the team sat eighth in the Scottish Premiership β and had several opportunities this summer.
Martin, who previously managed MK Dons and Swansea, guided Southampton to the Premier League by winning the Championship play-offs in 2023-24.
He will become Leicester's seventh manager in just over three years since Brendan Rodgers departed in April 2023.
