Porro signs new long-term Tottenham contract

Tottenham right-back Pedro Porro has inked a fresh, long-term contract with the club. The duration of the agreement has not been revealed by Spurs, but the deal is believed to extend through 2031.

Porro, aged 26, had two years remaining on the contract he signed when he permanently joined Spurs from Sporting CP in the summer of 2023.

Spurs originally acquired Porro on loan in January 2023 with a requirement to make the transfer permanent that summer for £40 million.

The Spanish player has featured in 152 matches for Spurs, including 47 across all competitions last season, the highest tally of any player in Roberto De Zerbi's squad.

"Over the past three-and-a-half years, he has made significant strides to become one of the top full-backs in the sport, and the fact that he is set to compete in the World Cup for Spain is evidence of that," said Spurs sporting director Johan Lange.

"His personality, work ethic, and skill are precisely what we seek when assembling a roster capable of contending at the top level, and we are thrilled that he has opted to continue his path with the club."

Spurs manager De Zerbi added: "In addition to his technical abilities, I also admire his mindset. Every day he wants to work, learn, and improve, and these are the traits that enable players to achieve the highest standards.

"He comprehends football in a very astute manner, and he injects energy, intensity, and character into the team."

Porro is currently participating in the 2026 World Cup with Spain, who kick off their group stage campaign on Monday against Cape Verde in Atlanta (17:00 BST).
