Seventeen individuals have sustained injuries after a tourist train's carriage overturned in the Spanish municipality of Cártama.
The incident occurred shortly after 21:30 local time (20:30 BST) on Saturday evening, as reported by local officials. The reason behind it remains unclear.
Emergency responders provided care to the injured at the location, and four individuals, including three children, were subsequently transported to a nearby medical facility. Local authorities stated that none of the victims had severe injuries.
The complimentary train journey was part of a yearly celebration known as la Ruta de la Tapa y el Cóctel, which encourages attendees to explore various local establishments to sample their food and beverage selections.
At the time of the accident, the road train was transporting approximately 30 passengers.
Images shared on social media depict several people aboard the carriage as emergency personnel attend to a child seated on the ground.
The event, scheduled from 10 to 14 June, offers a city-wide map highlighting numerous restaurants and bars. The train makes stops along the route to allow passengers to disembark at these venues.
Participants can collect stamps by sampling different foods and drinks, and later have the opportunity to enter a raffle for prizes.
Local authorities noted that the accident occurred as the train was making a turn at a crossing on Santo Cristo road, based on multiple calls to emergency services.
The train service has been halted for the weekend as investigations continue.
The town of Cártama, located in southern Spain, is situated just 17 km (10.6 miles) from the popular tourist hub of Málaga and a 44-minute drive from the affluent resort town of Marbella.
