The notion that Donald Trump was praised prior to the showcase event in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, and awarded the inaugural FIFA ‘Peace Prize’, based on Gianni Infantino’s assertion that the country would “welcome everyone” over the summer, now seems absurd. The most recent problem to surface places the impacted nation at risk of facing a substantial financial penalty.
The UEFA president has been forced to backtrack on his statements ahead of this summer’s tournament in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

According to Romain Molina—a journalist who has contributed to the BBC, The Guardian, and the New York Times—Uruguay’s team plane has been left stuck in Mexico due to missing paperwork before their journey to Miami, where they are slated to face Saudi Arabia in Group H tomorrow evening. He posted on X:
“New organizational disaster: The Uruguayan national team’s plane was not permitted to travel to the United States due to administrative problems (some documents appear to be missing), even though they play tomorrow in Miami against Saudi Arabia. A new flight is scheduled to depart in a few hours.
“But it’s complete chaos between the Federation and FIFA as well, because the head coach, Marcelo Bielsa’s press conference is at risk of being canceled at this rate (which would result in a fine). One question: how did no one notice BEFORE that there was an administrative issue?”
Unverified sources suggest that FIFA is responsible for what is anticipated to be a three-hour delay. This would mean Uruguay’s press conference will be scrapped, and they are not expected to arrive until late tonight.
