Singer Bonnie Tyler has emerged from a coma but remains in a serious condition in intensive care, according to a representative.
The 75-year-old, originally from Skewen, Wales, was taken to a hospital in Faro, Portugal, in May following emergency intestinal surgery and was placed in a medically induced coma to assist her recovery.
Her health is showing signs of improvement, and doctors are "confident" she will recover, though the process is "slow," the spokesperson noted.
Tyler's summer tour will be either cancelled or postponed, though some autumn performances are still expected to proceed.
A message posted on the singer's website stated that she "was no longer in a coma but remains very unwell and in intensive care in hospital in Portugal."
"Although her condition is improving it is a slow process."
"Her doctors remain confident that she will make a good recovery but it is going to take time," it continued.
The spokesperson expressed gratitude to fans for their "huge outpouring of love and support" from across the globe, adding that Tyler is aware of it and appreciates the well-wishes.
The statement also offered apologies for the disruption to her summer tour schedule, saying: "We apologise to all of Bonnie's fans and to our promoter partners for the disappointment that this will cause but trust that you will understand and bear with us in these difficult circumstances."
"We hope to see you next year instead."
Tyler's team requested privacy and indicated that further updates would be provided when major developments occur.
Tyler, whose birth name is Gaynor Hopkins, was raised in a council house in Neath.
She rose to international fame with *Total Eclipse of the Heart* in 1983, and 43 years later, the track surpassed one billion streams on Spotify.
She was discovered by talent scout Roger Bell at a club in Swansea and released her debut single *Lost in France* in 1977.
Five years later, she released *Total Eclipse of the Heart*, which spent two weeks at number one in the UK and four weeks in the US.
The hit earned her a Grammy nomination, along with the album *Faster Than the Speed of Night* and the single *Here She Comes*.
Tyler also performed for the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013, finishing 19th out of 26 acts, and was awarded an MBE for her contributions to music in 2023.
