Dozens of police vehicles were observed on West Division Street in Arlington, Texas, less than a mile from AT&T Stadium, where England are set to face Croatia in their opening match of the 2026 World Cup.

A Swat team and a substantial deployment of armed officers have reacted to an incident just over a mile from where England kick off their World Cup campaign.
Numerous Arlington Police vehicles could be seen positioned on West Division Street in the Texas city on Monday, a short distance from the AT&T Stadium where the Three Lions take on Croatia in two days' time. An officer at the location described the alleged incident as "pretty serious", involving a suspect who was armed.
Police snipers, an armoured BearCat vehicle, and police drones were deployed at the scene, with a large number of officers dispatched to the area. A representative for the Arlington Police Department stated that the force was addressing a domestic disturbance between a male and a female at their residence.

She added: "The female resident was barricaded inside the home with additional occupants.
"The report indicates that a weapon was displayed but no injuries were reported. The suspect is now in custody and the investigation is ongoing."
There is no indication that the incident was connected to the World Cup or represented any danger to the tournament or its locations.

Meanwhile, violent disturbances have erupted near the World Cup opener between Mexico and South Africa. Online footage appears to show chaos unfolding in the area of Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
The tournament's first match, held at the famous Estadio Azteca, was tainted by scenes of turmoil as large crowds reportedly gathered near Gate 8. Eyewitness video clips circulating online seem to depict groups of demonstrators throwing objects, including what are believed to be Molotov cocktails, towards police lines as officers attempted to manage the situation.
The match itself, part of the opening fixture of the FIFA World Cup, was taking place inside the stadium during the disturbances, though concerns arose about access routes and spectator safety around the venue.

Officials have yet to confirm the extent of any injuries or arrests, and no official statement has been released regarding whether the unrest has impacted entry to the stadium or the match schedule.
However, reports from the scene suggest that armed riot police charged protesters. Rioters threw bananas, bunches of orange flowers, rocks, and Molotov cocktails at mounted police.
Flames erupted near police horses. After one ugly confrontation, a policewoman with a bleeding gash on her head appeared seriously injured. Security guards used fire extinguishers on some protesters.
