All 48 teams participating in the World Cup were ranked according to their average squad height, with each of the top five teams averaging well over six feet.
The Czech Republic actually feature the highest number of tall players, with 10 members of Miroslav Koubek’s current 26-man squad all measuring above 190cm.

However, their overall squad averages just 185.7cm, while perennial international dark horses Belgium fare slightly better in fourth place with an average of 185.8cm.
Sweden’s emphasis on physical prowess led Graham Potter to select several towering players, with Gustaf Nilsson and Jacob Widell Zetterstrom being the tallest at 197cm.
The top spot is shared by two nations: Norway, whose talisman Erling Haaland measures 195cm, and Bosnia & Herzegovina, both averaging 187.2cm.
The distinction of being the World Cup’s tallest player overall belongs to Austria goalkeeper Florian Wiegele at 205cm—almost four inches taller than Haaland’s height.
At the opposite end of the spectrum, Saudi Arabia was ranked as the smallest squad with an average of 178.4cm, while Panama’s Cesar Yanis is the shortest player overall at 160cm.
But if the 170cm Lionel Messi has taught us anything, bigger is not always superior.
