EXCLUSIVE: Astrid Wett has told the Daily Star why she's not yet cheering on England in person at the World Cup, but fear not . . . she'll be there very, very soon
One of England's most infamous fans has been getting a lot of questions lately – and she's finally answered them. Astrid Wett, known to many as a football-mad, slightly rage-inducing online personality who is both Chelsea and England mad.
And many would have assumed that Wett would have already been on a plane out to the United States to cheer on the lads. However, to the surprise of many online – and the Daily Star, because we covered her every movement at the Qatar World Cup in 2022 – she's been seemingly watching on from afar.
And speaking exclusively to the Daily Star, Astrid revealed that many of her followers online – which tops nearly one million across various platforms – have been asking her exactly why she's not out at the tournament.
She told us: All of my DMs and comments are asking why I’m not there – so many people are confused why England's 'poster girl' isn’t in the States celebrating with the rest of the fans out there.
“The reason I didn’t go out at the beginning is because I wanted to spend some time with fans back at home who aren’t able to head out to America.
"All my friends and family are watching the World Cup from England and I wanted to experience a little of it with them, so the earlier games seemed to be the best time to spend it with them before I head out to all the madness.”
Astrid confirmed that she will be flying out as soon as possible . . . and will be taking a very special item with her. She explained: “I keep seeing a lot of people complaining about the tea. Americans don’t know how to do tea.
So I was thinking I want to come over with a lot of energy, I’m bringing the party, I’m bringing the vibes – and I’m also bringing the tea.”
As well as having fun at watch party's and with family and friend, Astrid has had a little bit of a tough time getting hold of a new custom England shirt recently
Taking to social media site X/Twitter, she explained how she ordered one . . . but it never came.
She posted: “I ordered the new England shirt a few weeks ago with personalisation, DPD tried to deliver it twice but they didn't send me a 'delivery pin' so refused to leave the parcel.
“It's now been sent back to JD and they've told me they can't resend the order as it's 'their policy'”
DPD has not replied to her post, but the Daily Star has reached out to them for a comment – and, you know, because everyone deserves a new England shirt.
