Our favourite football chant ever features lanky Peter Crouch and bedroom action

World Cup favourites Sweet Caroline and Vindaloo follow closely behind the classic “He’s tall, he’s red, his feet stick out the bed, Peter Crouch!”

A chant celebrating Peter Crouch’s towering height has been voted the nation’s funniest football chant. World Cup favourites Sweet Caroline and Vindaloo follow closely behind the classic “He’s tall, he’s red, his feet stick out the bed, Peter Crouch!”.

A study into our favourite chants also found we love to belt out Rice, Rice Baby, in reference to Three Lions hero Declan Rice, and “Southgate you’re the one” to the tune of Whole Again, even though he’s yesterday’s manager now.

The chant culture isn’t confined to the stands either, with half of fans admitting they’ve belted out football songs in both the pub and the stadium, according to the Heineken study.

Craig Woolley, of Heineken UK, who is encouraging chants in pubs across Britain, said: “A packed pub on matchday is about as close as you can get to being in the stadium - sometimes it’s even louder. From the first chant to the final whistle, pubs give fans that unbeatable sense of togetherness.”

The top list of our favourite chants:

1. He’s tall, he’s red, his feet stick out the bed, Peter Crouch! – Peter Crouch

2. Sweet Caroline – Neil Diamond

3. Vindaloo – Fat Les

4. Rice, Rice Baby – Declan Rice
