Jordan Henderson injury latest confirmed

Henderson was among the headline makers for the Three Lions despite not playing any actual on-field involvement in the historic knockout encounter against El Tri.

The Brentford midfielder received a booking as an unused substitute for getting into an altercation while warming up on the touchline during the game's latter stages.

But Henderson's night took a dramatic turn shortly after the final as he fell over an advertising board while joining in the celebrations with his England teammates.

He was given oxygen and carried off on a stretcher with a suspected wrist injury which could now rule him out for the last-eight showdown and possibly beyond.

Match-winners Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane gave contrasting information on whether the former Liverpool captain had suffered a serious injury to BBC Sport.

Bellingham described Henderson's prognosis as 'a bit of bother' while captain Kane said: "Hendo just fell over there. I think he's ok. Something to do with his arm".

However Tuchel admitted post-match that the 36-year-old had been taken to hospital to undergo assessment on his wrist following the freak accident. He has stayed in Mexico City with a member of England’s medical staff rather than return to Kansas City with the rest of the squad.

“Jordan injured his wrist, it just doesn’t fit to the evening that Jordan is not with us," said the England manager. I don’t know the procedure, the doctor told me he is in the hospital.”

Henderson has featured just once for England at this World Cup with a late substitute appearance in their final group stage victory over Panama . The England media team are yet to release an official update on Henderson, but it appears likely he will be unable to contribute any more to England's 2026 World Cup campaign in a playing capacity.
