The Three Lions scored a remarkable 22 goals in eight friendly events, conceding just two.
But in competitive fixtures, this head-to-head takes a turn for the worst, with England claiming just one victory from four.
Norway, on the other hand, have won two matches, 2-1 in 1981 and 2-0 in 1993, during World Cup qualifying.
The former match led to the famous "Your boys took a hell of a beating!" message to Margaret Thatcher on Norwegian radio.
England's sole competitive victory against Norway came in 1980, a comprehensive 4-0 win.
It has now been 46 years since the Three Lions beat their quarter-final opposition in competitive conditions, while Norway have won twice, and drawn 1-1 once, with England in that time.
