Manchester United are reportedly in advanced talks to sign a Premier League star in a surprise swoop
Michael Carrick is in the market to bolster his midfield and the Red Devils are said to be close to signing Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa. It's reported by The Athletic that all parties are in contact to finalise a deal for the 29-year-old. While according to Fabrizio Romano, United have activated the £35million release clause in his contract. His personal demands are unknown.
Villa wanted to offer Tielemans a new contract this summer but could not finalise terms due to financial restrictions. United are expected to have beaten a host of interest from Saudi Arabia and other Premier League clubs to his signature

Tielemans joined Villa in 2023 as a free agent upon the expiry of his Leicester City deal, where he scored a brilliant winner in the FA Cup final two years earlier.
The former Anderlecht and Monaco midfielder has played 134 times for Villa over the last three campaigns, scoring 10 goals.
